Anamoria Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Anamoria collects, why, how it is used and shared, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. Anamoria stores deeply personal content, including voice, video, photos and text, and we treat it with heightened care.
By using Anamoria, you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
Anamoria is operated by Anamoria Inc, a company based in Georgia, United States ("Anamoria," "we," "us"). The Service is currently offered as a controlled, free pilot in the United States. Questions: help@anamoria.org.
Definitions
- Service: the Anamoria application and website at app.anamoria.org.
- Memory content: the voice recordings, video recordings, photographs, and written notes you add.
- Contributor: someone you invite to add memories to a space you create.
- Personal information: information that identifies or relates to you.
Information we collect
The memories you create. Voice recordings, video recordings, photographs, and written notes you choose to add about your loved ones. Because these often concern deceased loved ones and may include a person's voice, image, and personal reflections, we treat them as sensitive personal information and apply the heightened protections described below.
Account information. Your name, your email address, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
Device permissions (only with your permission). The microphone, to record voice and video memories; the camera and photo library, to capture or upload photos and video. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.
Information collected automatically. Your IP address, browser and device type, and basic usage information (such as which features are used), to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
Contributor information. If you invite a contributor, we collect their name, email, and consent record.
How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- provide and maintain the Service (store and play back your memories, manage your account and memory spaces, and let contributors you invite add memories);
- send you service communications such as contributor invitations, account-link confirmations, and important account notices (these are transactional, not marketing);
- keep the Service secure and troubleshoot problems; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We collect and use your memory content only with your explicit, opt-in consent, which we request before any recording is captured. We do not use your memories to train any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model, we do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
How we protect sensitive memory content
Your memories are private. They are visible only to you and the contributors you explicitly invite into a memory space. There are no public areas of the Service, and we do not publish or distribute your memories publicly.
Access to memory content is governed by strict, least-privilege controls: media is delivered only through time-limited signed links, internal access is restricted and access is logged, and it is Anamoria's firm operational policy that our staff do not access the content of your memories. We enforce this through technical access controls and internal policy.
How information is shared
We share personal information only with the service providers that operate the Service, and only for that purpose. They are bound by their own privacy obligations and may not use your information for their own purposes:
- Auth0: secure sign-in and identity. https://auth0.com/privacy
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosting, encrypted storage of your memories, content delivery, and transactional email (Amazon SES). https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/
- Stripe: payment processing, if and when paid features are offered. The pilot is free; see "Payments." https://stripe.com/privacy
We may also disclose information if required by law or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public. If Anamoria is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may transfer to the successor, and we will give notice before it becomes subject to a different policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies
Anamoria does not use advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies. We use only the minimum technologies needed to keep you securely signed in and to operate the Service. Authentication tokens are held in your browser's memory for the duration of your session and are not stored in persistent local storage. The app may cache its own files on your device so it can work offline; that cache contains application code, not tracking data.
Payments
The pilot is free, and we do not collect payment information during the pilot. If paid features are introduced later, payment details will be handled directly by Stripe (a PCI-DSS-compliant processor) and will not be stored by Anamoria; we would then retain transaction records as required by tax and accounting law.
Data retention
- Your memories (voice, video, photos, written notes): kept while your account is active so you can access them. When you delete a memory, it can be restored for a limited time and is then permanently removed within 30 days.
- On account deletion or withdrawal of consent: your memories and associated personal information are removed within 30 days.
- Account information: kept for the life of your account and for a limited period afterward to resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.
- Logs and usage data: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Residual copies may persist briefly in encrypted backups and are not restored except for security, disaster recovery, or legal compliance.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- export all of your data from within the Service;
- correct your account information;
- delete your account and all associated memories permanently; and
- withdraw consent, after which we remove your data within 30 days.
Use the in-app controls or contact help@anamoria.org. We may retain limited information where the law requires it.
Security
We protect your information using encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256 encryption of stored media; encrypted database storage), time-limited signed links for media access, least-privilege internal access controls, and managed secrets. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply extra safeguards because these recordings are sensitive.
Children
Anamoria is intended for adults. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18; we require confirmation that you are 18 or older at sign-up, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, contact help@anamoria.org and we will delete it.
Contributors
If you are invited to contribute to someone's memory space, we collect your name, email, and consent at the time you accept the invitation; you cannot contribute without consenting. You may withdraw and request deletion of your contributor information by contacting help@anamoria.org.
Data-breach notification
If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here, update the version number and "Last updated" date, and notify you by email and/or a prominent in-app notice before material changes take effect. A version change may require you to review and re-accept the policy.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
